Accreditation Information

Washington Online Learning Institute is regionally accredited as a postsecondary institution by the Middle States Association Colleges and Schools - CESS Click here to learn more.  Washington Online's accreditation is recognized by the US Secretary of Education and is valid in all 50-states.

The Accreditation Process

According to the MSA website, "[a]ccreditation is the affirmation that a school provides a quality of education that the community has a right to expect and the education world endorses. Accreditation is a means of showing confidence in a school's performance. When the Commission on Secondary Schools accredits a school, it certifies that the school has met the prescribed qualitative standards of the Middle States Association within the terms of the school's own stated philosophy and objectives."

Accreditation is important to Washington Online because it demonstrates to our entire community of faculty, staff, and students that as an educational institution, we adhere to the highest standards of excellence. Regional accreditation is the gold standard and ensures credentials earned at a college will be widely recognized and accepted by employers.

Accreditation Status

Washington Online Learning Institute has received full accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools - CESS.

Notice of Accreditation Evaluation

Washington Online Learning Institute was awarded a full 10-year accreditation renewal in 2018. The next accreditation renewal is scheduled in 2028.

Washington Online Learning Institute is licensed by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education as a post-secondary institution.

Washington Online Learning Institute is licensed as a private career school with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, sections 136A.821 to 136A.832. Licensure is not an endorsement of the institution. Credits earned at the institution may not transfer to all other institutions.

Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

A national advocate and institutional voice for promoting academic quality through accreditation, the Council on Higher Education (CHEA) is an association of 3,000 degree-granting colleges and universities and recognizes 60 institutional and programmatic accrediting organizations. CHEA reviews organizations on recognition standards, including academic quality and accountability.
